(HealthDay News) — When hungry kids get home from school, make sure they know how to fix a healthy snack — and which foods to avoid.

The website suggests avoiding:

  • Any perishable foods that haven’t been refrigerated, such as pizza.
  • Any perishable leftovers from the lunchbox, such as all or part of a sandwich.
  • Raw cookie dough.
  • Raw fruits and veggies that are bruised or appear spoiled.
  • Bread or soft cheese that appears moldy.
