Valentine’s Day can be about breathtaking bills at the end of prix fixe dinners. It can be about gold neckales and gold watches and (when you get older) gold teeth. It can also be about reading old Cathy cartoons and eating ice cream (here’s a recipe that serves 1 on a bad day).
But beyond the showy, elaborate, all-too-often public displays of affection (or distress), Valentine’s Day is about celebrating what goes well together. Take this photo of avocados and toast from Kenzi Wilbur, for example.
