From flavorful tacos, to gooey burritos and crunchy taquitos, Mexican food has become a staple of cuisine in the United States. According to an ABC News report, there were more than 38,000 Mexican restaurants in the United States as of 2011, while one in 10 restaurants sold a Mexican dish.

Food lovers have two gratuitous excuses to enjoy Mexican food this September, when both Mexico’s Independence Day and National Guacamole Day take place on the 16th.

To commemorate these holidays, and help cities tout their Mexican food offerings, FindTheHome and FindTheCompany sought out the Mexican food capital of every state.

Using Dun & Bradstreet data, FindTheHome looked at the Mexican restaurant density of major American cities (with populations of over 20,000 people). Here’s a look at the 25 Mexican food capitals with the highest Mexican restaurant density, along with a notable restaurant and dish at each locale.
