Life can be a real challenge when you are busy attending classes, studying for exams, working a full-time job, and maybe even taking care of a family. It’s like a juggling act trying to find the time to cook dinner, hold down a job, and study for exams. With all these responsibilities, time management is very important for your success. We’ve compiled a list of top time management tips and strategies to keep you organized and successful during the school year.

Use Technology

Although it’s true that your phone can be an easy way to waste time with all the games and apps out there to choose from, if you use it wisely, it is a wonderful tool to have in your arsenal of time management. Keep your phone at your fingertips to help you manage your time, and calendar or schedule important assignments, due dates, and exams. But it is only a useful device if you use it consistently. Take time at the beginning of every semester to log all your assignments and exams from your class syllabi. Keep your calendar up-to-date with any last minute changes or additions mentioned by the instructors during class.

Keep a Routine

Make a To-Do List

By making a list of things to do, you are able to see what you have accomplished and feel a sense of gratification when you get to check things off your list. Prioritize your tasks by putting the most important or time-sensitive jobs at the top. Try to focus your list by keeping it short – a goal of five tasks a day is a realistic and attainable goal. This approach will help you determine which tasks are most important and to focus how you spend your time.

Plan Ahead

Wake up each day with a plan. Without a plan, it’s easy to piddle around, wasting time on trivial matters that aren’t helping you get things done. A great way to wake up with a plan for the day is to plan the night before. Either before you leave work for the day or before you hit the sheets, take a few minutes to organize your desk and make a list of your most important to-dos for the next day. Alternatively, take a few minutes in the morning to jot down 4-5 important things you have to do for the day and use that list to keep you focused on tasks such as assignments for your business administration associates courses.

 

Use your mornings to conquer your most important tasks. Not only do you have the most energy in the morning to complete these tasks, but you will have a feeling of accomplishment throughout the rest of the day.
